About Me

Hi...I am Kim Bratvold, the owner of Kim Bratvold Photography. I am the mom of three teenagers and have been married for over 20 years. I have a university degree in Fine Arts from Mount Allison University. Although I never really studied photography in university it became an interest later on and I consider myself self taught. My husband bought me my first DSLR when a friend figured that because I was artsy I could probably take photos of her extended family for a Thanksgiving reunion. I had to learn FAST. Not sure where those photos are now and actually would kind of dread looking at them now. After that, another friend suggested I apply for the photographer position that had opened up at the our city newspaper. I applied on a whim thinking that I did not have a chance. I got the job. I truly enjoyed working for the Medicine Hat News and feel that my years there were huge to my development as a photographer. I did have to leave the job as it became a scheduling conflict with the sports life of my children. I decided to start my own business so that I could determine my hours and be able to be there for my kids and still work. Several years later and here I am. I had no idea how busy I would be, the opportunities I would have and the people I would meet. I thank all of my clients for your continued trust in me as your photographer and I look forward to working with and meeting new clients.
